Our Purpose
|
The purpose of this fundraiser is to promote a greater awareness of Autism. We are hoping that you, your family, and your friends will help us raise money for the specialized education necessary for these children suffering from Autism.

Autism Information
- Affects 1 in 100 children
- Approximately 1 million individuals in the US have autism
- 4:1 ratio of boys to girls (1 in 58 boys)
- Fastest growing developmental disability
- More than $100 billion in estimated annual costs (10 year projection: $200-400 billion)
- Cost of lifelong care can be reduced by 66% with early intervention
- A family with a child with autism will fund $3-5 million of services throughout a lifetime
- More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than cancer, diabetes, Downs Syndrome and AIDS combined.
- Autism receives less than 5% of the research funding of most of the more prevalent childhood disorders.

Ascent School for Autism
- Private, non-profit school for children diagnosed with autism and atypical pervasive developmental disorders
- Provides a full day, 12 month academic and behavioral treatment program to preschool and school age children ranging in age from 3 to 21 years
- Primarily serves children with severe behavioral issues who have experienced failure in the continuum of available public special education settings and who require a high degree of individualized attention and intervention.
